Can the destruction of Amsterdam bring people together?
The Minicipality game has two main purposes — to empower citizens by equipping them with tools needed to enact change in their neighbourhood, and to collect data for researchers regarding the participants capacity for empathy and desire for change.
Upon entering the game, players are randomly assigned 1 of 20 characters which have been designed based on stereotypes of the diverse city of Amsterdam.
Each character cares about the city’s well being slightly differently in respect to five values: 1) Safety 2) Nature 3) Happiness 4) Economy 5) Community
Through quests, players work together to build the city back up from a post-apocalyptic situation towards a futuristic utopia.
Can they find balance between the city’s well being and their character’s?
